Lazy Afternoon

Artist: Zhang Liaoyuan
installation, video | Projector, Colored papers | 2018

“In “Lazy afternoon”, the borders of images are the object of observation. Each frame is of a bold colour for the purpose of emphasis. In fact, we tend to overlook the border because we are normally drawn to the image. But by juxtaposing several dozens of frames, “Lazy Afternoon” draws our attention to the borders and their definition of the scope of images. We would see a person walking from one screen to another, and we find ourselves either integrating all the small scenes into a collage or shuffling between the two viewing modes when our trance is interrupted. These borders have enabled us to discover more with the images within.” (Liaoyuan ZHANG, 2018)
